Inquisitorial Army

Here's a post about lists and rules rather than models and fluff.

I've been rather smitten with Codex: Imperial Agents (largely because of models and fluff) and decided I would make myself a 1,250 pt army.  I want it to be reasonably effective but don't need it to be the most powerful out there. So here is what I have so far for the army of Dominus Gustav:

Inq Formation 1

100 Dominus (counts-as Coteaz)
116 Henchmen warband (4 acolytes, 2 with plasma gun, mystic, crusader in chimera)

383 - 10 Grey knight terminators (2 hammers, 1 stave, 4 halberds, 1 psycannon, 2 swords)

Inq Formation 2

25 Inquisitor
153 - 3 acolytes (one mystic) in valkyrie w/ lascannon

Allied Astra Militarum CAD

60 - Company command

155 - veterans with 2 plasma in chimera
101 - veterans with forward sentries, 3 sniper rifles and commissar

70 - Hydra
65 - wyvern

Total - 1228 pts (22 remaining)

The idea is that I have two chimeras with plasmas firing out of the hatch, a hydra and a wyvern holding my back field and a unit with some cammo and sniper rifles to take up position in cover and take some shots.  The grey knights can split into two ObSec combat squads (thanks Coteaz) and they can deepstrike in without scattering next to either of the mystics (one of which will be in a flyer zooming about the battlefield).

The biggest weakness is it's lack of anti armour. It has 4 plasma shots and one lascannon, but that's not going to be worth much if someone brings 3 leman russ. I also won't be able to use Dominus' psychic powers while he's cooped up in the chimera taking pot shots.

I'm thinking it might make sense to take off the "forward sentries" and commissar and maybe the crusader to be able to afford two jokaeros which will give me another 2 lascannon shots. OR, maybe I want to drop the AM altogether and just load up on inquistors and their acolytes zooming around in valkyries.  Thoughts?

Althea

Althea was previously in the Imperial Navy. She grew up the bastard child of one of the wealthy lords on the hive planet Kragnos in Segmentum Obscura. Notwithstanding that her lineage wasn't pure enough to inherit his position, she was her father's favourite child and he spoiled her as only a rich father could. It bothered her brothers that she, a girl, and a bastard, was his favourite.

Her life was changed when she received her first grav bike at Candlemas when she was 10 years old. She took to tearing through the hive spires where her father and the rest of the noblesse lived. By the time she was 13, she was beating boys 5 years her senior in grav races, often pulling off nearly impossible stunts to ensure her victory.

She was 17 when her father died and her eldest half-brother inherited his seat. In the dark hours of that first night after his death, she left with only what she could carry and went to the nearest Imperial Navy recruitment office. She had to lie about her age.

For four years she was a Navy grunt. First into the breach on all boarding actions. It was on one such mission when the pilot of her boarding shuttle was killed that she grabbed the controls and ensured that her shuttle, and the twenty men inside (remnants of four separate squads), made it back alive. She was allowed to continue piloting boarding shuttles and she gained a reputation for daring and risky maneuvers. Yet, her craft had one of the highest mission success rates.

Two years later her shuttle took a direct shot and her control panel exploded, ripping apart the left side of her face and taking her eye. Although she was an excellent pilot, she was still only a pilot, and the Navy would not pay for a proper replicant graft. Feeling betrayed, she left.

She used what savings she had, but the black market eye she purchased did not mesh perfectly and her stunt flying days are mostly behind her. She works as a merc and guard for now, saving her money for a proper replacement, but she hasn't forgotten that she was meant to fly.

Felix Gunnarson

Here is a WIP of my inquisitor's latest henchman, Felix Gunnarson.

Gunnarson is a gruff no-nonsense veteran of the Astra Militarum. Although generally a good guy, he holds grudges and does not forgive easily (if ever).  Gunnarson lacks the social graces to run any of his inquisitor's more subtle missions - his skillset is best suited to the role of cavalry reinforcements.

I'm pretty happy with this model, even if it is a simple conversion.  Happy for suggestions on how to make this a little more grimdark.

Welcome

Welcome to our little dark corner of the grim dark future. Come listen to the whisper of the shadows.  We have stories to tell.  Stories of villians, of monsters, of heretics and mutants, barbarity, and violence.  But most of all, we have stories to tell of heroes.

Heroes that stride the stars. Heroes of strength and honour.  And heroes that look like you and me.

For the future has need of heroes.  Heroes to fight against what lies await in the shadows.
